COAST is driving innovation in Pacific Canada’s Blue Economy by:
- Helping industry find commercial solutions to key challenges facing the ocean sector
- Supporting start-ups and new ventures
- Engaging Indigenous leadership in the Blue Economy; and
- Attracting talent, capital and partnerships to grow businesses in British Columbia.
COAST is seeking a communications / engagement professional to:
- Craft the message for COAST in all external communications
- Coordinate regular in-person events including COAST Mixers and the COAST conference (still to be developed)
- Update social media posts, prepare and distribute news releases, compile monthly newsletters and create and implement advertising strategies
- Prepare, moderate and promote COAST Talks (Virtual Speaker Series and Podcasts)
- Engage with COAST members on a regular basis
- Highlight the COAST offering to member companies
- Plan member benefits to encourage attraction and retention of individual, SME and Industry members
To be successful in this role, you should:
- Be a self starter with an entrepreneurial attitude
- Have at least 5 years of experience in a professional environment, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in social media, marketing and corporate communications strategy development and execution
- Be able to work autonomously and within a team environment
- Be comfortable on camera and with producing video content
- Be proficient in WordPress (or other website content tools) and well acquainted with CRM software (eg ConstantContact, MailChimp)
- Possess outstanding written and presentation skills in English (French would also be an asset)
- Have experience organizing events – both social and professional
Work can be remote, but applicant must be present in a major centre of British Columbia. Some travel is expected to events held along the British Columbia coastline and some out of province / country travel may be required – but limited. On offer is an attractive remuneration package and exposure to the Canadian innovation/start-up sector.
